The world demands sustainable materials. People care about the provenance of the products they use.
The government’s growth, environmental and climate change policies, now call for the use of more home-grown sustainable timber, and this is being reflected in the procurement policies of construction and retail companies.
Only by developing a demand for Grown in Britain certified timber, can we drive an increase in the amount of home-grown timber and wood products on the market. This in turn, will support UK jobs, boost the economy and reduce unnecessary imports.

CONSTRUCTION
Grown in Britain certificate holders cover the entire supply chain, from forests to builders’ merchants. The largest softwood sawmill in the UK is GiB certified and they sell to the vast majority of national merchants. Grown in Britain hardwood is available from local independent sawmills and national timber merchants; our development of added-value products such as thermally modified timber, also means that British timber now presents a highly credible alternative to unnecessary imports.
Bam Construct, Kier, Lend Lease, Morgan Sindall, Skanska and Willmott Dixon are among the construction companies who want to see more of their suppliers certified as Grown in Britain, and they want to see the logo on more of the products being used on their projects.
We have developed a Timber Procurement Policy to help you explore the options for using Grown in Britain timber in your projects.

RETAIL
From Nando’s to the John Lewis Partnership, an increasing number of major high street retailers support Grown in Britain through their values and procurement policies. As a retailer, you can join these household names in fashioning public attitudes towards more local, assured forest products.
Together we can encourage the buying public to make the connection between our woods and forests, and the chairs they sit on, the charcoal on their barbecue, or the toys their children play with. By raising awareness that buying home-grown products directly affects our local and wider environments, we can mould a more ‘joined-up’, transparent and trusted supply chain, which will return benefits for us all.

PLAQUES
When you purchase one of our beautiful solid ash plaques, Grown in Britain purchases one tonne of carbon credits through the government-backed Woodland Carbon Code scheme – this equates to the planting of approximately 3-4 trees.
The plaques are manufactured with full GiB chain of custody, measuring D30mm x W375mm x H200mm (dimensions may vary), and are supplied with your company name and project title professionally laser-etched into the wood.
Only by developing a demand for Grown in Britain certified timber, can we drive an increase in the amount of home-grown timber and wood products on the market.
