Apply for a licence

WOODLAND OWNERS AND CHAIN OF CUSTODY

If you are a woodland or forest owner or if you produce or sell GiB products then this is is the licence for you. The steps to apply for a Grown in Britain Licence is outlined below.

Step 1: Download either the Forest application pack or the Chain of Custody Application pack.     Grown in Britain Woodfuel application pack

WOODLAND AND FOREST OWNERS: If you are a applying for a licence for a UK woodland read the Guidance note on Forest licence category.

CHAIN OF CUSTODY (virgin timber only) – this falls into two categories.

  1. If all your timber is from UK woodlands with a woodland management plan, then read the Guidance note on the Forest Product category.
  2. If not, read the Guidance note on the Suppliers category.

Step 2:  Complete and return your application form to enquiries@growninbritain.org. Should you require any help or support with completing the form or any part of the licensing application process, please call 0117 958 2189.

Step 3: Appoint an auditor if required*, there is a list in the application pack.  Once this is complete and the licence fees have been paid, we will issue the licence.

*For forest & woodland owner applications, Grown in Britain will undertake the audit at no extra cost.

The new Grown in Britain standard V3 was part funded by the Big Lottery Fund through Making Local Woods Work.

WOODFUEL ONLYGrown in Britain Woodfuel licence:

Woodfuel has its own special licence and is aligned to the RHI requirements.

Step 1: Download the Grown in Britain Woodfuel application pack

If all your timber is from UK woodlands the guidance note in the application pack will assist you with the requirements to meet the standard.  

Step 2: Complete and return your application form to enquiries@growninbritain.org. Should you require any help or support with completing the form or any part of the licensing application process, please call 0117 958 2189.  

Step 3: Appoint an auditor.  If you are Woodsure quality certified then your audit can be combined to reduce costs.  Otherwise choose from the list in the application pack.  Once this is complete and the licence fees have been paid, we can issue the licence.

The licensing process typically takes around four weeks to complete following the submission of a successful audit. Once approved and registered you will have full access to use the label within the regulations of use and guidelines.

 

There is an annual registration fee to use the Grown in Britain licensing mark, which is calculated on a sliding scale based on annual turnover of your business.
